Education

Required – Master’s degree from an accredited university, in one of the following areas: psychology, social work, or counseling field.

Experience

Required - 2 years of experience providing direct clinical services to at-risk youth or young adults or at least 1 year of experience providing direct services to clients and at least 1 year of experience in a clinical internship.

Licenses

LMSW. LMSW Clinicians must be actively pursuing LCSW licensure, receiving external supervision by a board approved supervisor.

About the Role

The Clinician is responsible for using sound professional clinical judgment and best practices to ensure quality services are provided to the service population, especially in traumatic situations, while maintaining compliance with established state, federal, and Texas Behavioral Health Executive Board standards.

Responsibilities

• Assess mental health needs of clients; help meet those needs by providing counseling services and referrals to case management.
• Establish rapport with youth and young adults ages 18-24, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
• Provide program participants with 6-18 months of non-emergency, free, private housing paired with comprehensive supportive services such as childcare assistance referrals, counseling, and case management.
• Perform crisis intervention techniques to ensure participant safety.
• Deliver immediate crisis response services, including crisis intervention, advocacy, emergency hotline support, and essential referrals for victims.
• Provide services including emotional support, accompaniment to legal/medical procedures, emergency transportation, assistance with crime victim compensation filing, and housing assistance.
• Provide trauma-informed case management, administration of screenings and assessments, development and monitoring of individualized service and safety plans, life skills education, transition planning, and coordination of referrals to behavioral health, medical, legal, and other community-based services.
• Implement Trauma-Informed Care using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Single Session Brief Therapy, Mindfulness, and approved therapy techniques for individual and group participants (as applicable).
• Provide a safe space for survivors to connect and offer mutual support through regular, trauma-specific group sessions.
• Develop Individual Treatment Plans for each participant and regularly assess progress, updating the Treatment Plan as goals change.
• Support both current and former program participants to promote safety, stabilization, and continuity of care during and after program participation.
• Manage projects as assigned.
• Conduct face-to-face outreach to individuals at risk of homelessness.
• Assist with service coordination and supporting residential inspections to ensure a safe and supportive living environment.
• Report any suspected abuse or neglect to the Program Director and all appropriate state and county enforcement agencies.
• Maintain own schedule for office visits and events.
• Identify and maintain professional relationships with participants and community partners.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and case consultations.
• Facilitate community meetings.
• Prepare presentations, training, and facilitate groups addressing topics related to mental health awareness and program objectives for community partners, sister programs, schools, parents, and youth.
• Participate in program events, resource fairs, and community activities as assigned.
• Implement safety protocols including evacuating with participants and other staff in case of an emergency.
• Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
• Maintain professional and ethical standards of conduct, demonstrating respect for agency staff, the service population, and community members, and complying with the required dress code at all times.

Measurable Deliverables

• Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards applicable to this position.
• Meet all service goals for the year:
  • Provide 7 participants with housing in the Our House program annually.
  • 6 participants complete/exit the program (including evictions).
  • 25 participants enrolled in school or working at least part-time upon exit.
  • 6 participants exited to permanent housing.
  • Zero evictions.
  • 48 support group sessions held.
  • 30 survivors participating in support groups.
  • 10 survivors receiving crisis counseling.
  • 30 survivors seeking services were served.
  • A maximum of 4 victims seeking services were not served.
  Some non-clinical service goals can be supplemented with assistance from the Resident Advisor.
• Complete required Salesforce documentation at Intake.
• Upload documentation and enter required data into Salesforce within 72 hours of client contact, individual sessions, or group sessions.
• Obtain assessments of client’s mental health needs and progression in the Individual Treatment Plan every 90 days.
• Ensure all program documentation required in the Clinical Tab in Salesforce, including information required for quarterly and monthly outcome measures reports, is accurate and ready for reports to be run by the 3rd working day of each month.
• Complete all file audits follow-up within 5 days of audit completion.
• Compile, prepare, submit, and maintain accurate records, files, forms, and additional information in accordance with agency policies, licensing, and/or contract requirements.
• Maintain current licenses and certificates required for the position by attending field-related trainings, earning 30 continuing education units every two years, including a training on Human Trafficking.
• Meet all deadlines required by Director and state/federal partners.
• Assist the Director in compiling information and analyzing statistics for the grant quarterly.

Requirements

• Maintain certificates required for the position, including but not limited to First Aid and CPR.
• Valid Texas Driver’s license with a clear driving record and reliable transportation.
• Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens.
• Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
• Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check (fingerprints needed if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years).
