Otolaryngology - Advance Practice Clinician - Northeast

About the Role

This position offers a 50-50 split of ambulatory practice between Torresdale and Yardley locations, along with hospital consult coverage for Torresdale and Bucks.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care in the Otolaryngology ambulatory practice as an integral member of a multidisciplinary health care team.
• Assessment & Management:
  • Perform complete history and physicals, documenting in the medical record.
  • Order and collect data using appropriate assessment techniques, supporting diagnostic information, and procedures.
  • Serve as the first responder for nursing and house staff during patient status changes, orders, and situations requiring procedural and resuscitative interventions.
  • Assess risks associated with acute and complex chronically ill patients, including medication side effects, immobility, impaired nutrition, fluid and electrolyte imbalance, immunocompetence, and invasive interventions.
• Diagnosis:
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to diagnose acute and complex chronic conditions.
  • Manage diagnostic tests through ordering, interpretation, performance, and supervision.
  • Formulate differential diagnoses by priority and diagnose complications, ordering appropriate interventions.
• Plan of Care:
  • Identify expected outcomes from diagnoses and formulate a dynamic plan of care addressing complex acute and chronic health care needs.
  • Utilize evidence-based practice guidelines and protocols in an individualized plan of care applicable across the continuum.
  • Implement and modify the plan of care, prescribing diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions.
  • Perform advanced procedures consistent with privileges and competency validation.
• Documentation:
  • Document key components of patient progress via daily progress notes, transfer and discharge summaries, clinic notes, H&P, problem lists, procedure notes, acute event notes, and death summaries.
  • Ensure documentation is timely, meets acute care compliance standards, and captures patient acuity.
• Communication and Collaboration:
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the interdisciplinary health care team.
  • Facilitate communication with patients, families, and staff to promote continuity of care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Professional Practice:
  • Demonstrate professional practice behaviors, including precepting/mentoring and educating graduate students.
  • Seek opportunities for active engagement in research and evidence-based practice analysis.
  • Actively participate in Advance Practice Grand Rounds and specialty-specific meetings.
  • Maintain CEUs and membership in a professional organization.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree.
• National Board Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• BLS certification.
