Responsibilities
- Oversees, inspects, and monitors contractual field work, which includes excavations, boring, placement of hand-holes, aerial strand and fiber cable installation, grounding, and monitoring restoration (sod, etc) of work areas per VZ standards
- Must be knowledgeable in outside plant construction. Line, splicing and substructure
- Knowledge of State, Federal, OSHA, NEC codes is a must
- Working knowledge of 3GIS, Google Earth or other industry standard geospatial applications
- General computer application skills required (MSOffice applications, Adobe, GSuite, etc.)
- Advises contractors of violations and recommends adjustments to work operations
- Applies vast knowledge of OSP construction methods, practices, and safety guidelines
- Inspecting and overseeing construction of manholes, environmental vaults, conduit formations and other types of underground telephone construction built by contractors
- Meeting multiple tasks demands, as well as subject matter expertise for maintaining high priority requirements that meet quality, safety and regulatory standards for compliance
- Observing work in progress to ensure that procedures followed and materials used conform to work prints and measuring and recording distances to verify the final location of installations
- Providing and ensuring the pathway for new copper and fiber cables by monitoring outside contractors to machine or hand rod and clean ducts and place mule tape and/or inner duct to pull or jet copper and fiber cables
Requirements
- Interpreting work prints and specifications for contractors and correcting deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance
- Climbing ladders, working aloft, entering confined spaces to accomplish job tasks, and moving/lifting items generally not exceeding 60 lbs
- Working evenings, weekends, holidays and unscheduled shifts as determined by the needs of the business
- Valid state driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
Qualifications
- Targeted Years of Experience: 5-7 years
- Related Associate Degree or 2 or more years of relevant work experience
