About the Role

As a Prosthetics & Orthotics (P&O) Fitter, you’ll provide direct patient care by measuring, fitting, adjusting, and maintaining prosthetic and orthotic devices under the direction of a certified prosthetist/orthotist or licensed provider. This role is much more than fitting orthopedic devices—you’ll help patients recover after surgery, return to work, stay active, reduce pain, improve mobility, regain confidence, and live more independently.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients under physician direction to determine appropriate orthotic solutions
  • Measure, fit, adjust, and modify braces, splints, and orthopedic devices
  • Educate patients and caregivers on proper use, wear schedules, and maintenance
  • Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and rehabilitation teams
  • Monitor patient progress and make adjustments to optimize comfort and function
  • Maintain accurate documentation while providing exceptional patient-centered care

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an orthotic/prosthetic fitter training program or equivalent clinical experience
  • Ability to accurately measure and fit orthotic and/or prosthetic devices
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and medical terminology
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to perform hands-on clinical fitting activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Orthotic Fitter (COF) and/or Certified Prosthetic Fitter (CPF)
  • Experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, rehabilitation, or academic medical center setting
  • Experience working with amputee populations or complex orthotic cases
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
