About the role

Responsibilities
- Set up and apply traction in accordance with standard procedures and instructions.
- Absorb and dispense supplies as directed.
- Inspect and maintain orthopedic equipment.
- Instruct selected patients in cast care, simple exercises, and crutch or cane use.
- Apply sterile and non-sterile dressings.
- Make splints, slings and foot pieces.
- May make rounds with doctors of all orthopedic patients and carry out instructions.
- Cut and fashion devices from metal, plastic, leather and wood using equipment and hand tools.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] preferred.
- Orthopaedic Technologist Certification [OTC] - National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists, Inc. preferred.
- 2-3 years related patient care experience required.
- Experience in Orthopedics Preferred.
Qualifications
- General knowledge of standard orthopedic procedures and practices.
- Working knowledge of orthopedic devices and appliances and proper fitting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology pertaining to orthopedics use.
- Communicate effectively when instructing patients in the use and care of orthopedic devices and appliances.
- Maintain effective working relationships with practitioners and other health center support staff.
- Sensitive to and communicate effectively with diverse patients.
Skills

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move patients.

Pay
$18.78 - $26.80/Hourly
Schedule
Monday through Friday from 8:00am–5:00pm, with a full-time schedule that is thoughtfully staggered to support patient care and team collaboration.
Additional Job Details
The ideal candidate is a certified Ortho Tech with experience. However, this role offers a unique opportunity for Medical Assistants with experience to grow their careers through hands-on training, mentorship, and cross-training across orthopedic services, developing advanced skills in casting, brace fitting, orthopedic equipment support, and broader Orthopedic Technician responsibilities.
