Orthopedic Tech - Part time

About the role

The Orthopedic Technician functions with demonstrated expertise in the delivery of direct Orthopedic care to children. Partners with the healthcare team to assess, prioritize, and provide care to the clinic patient population. Meets specific requirements, goals, and competencies established within the Orthopedic clinic.

Locations: Greenfield Clinic (3365 S 103rd St., Milwaukee, WI 53227) and Delafield Clinic (3195 Hillside Dr., Delafield, WI 53018).

Schedule

Part time: 20 hours per week
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday
No evenings and no weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assess, prioritize, and provide care to pediatric orthopedic patients.
• Partner with healthcare team to deliver direct orthopedic care.
• Utilize knowledge of orthopedic surgery instruments, casting techniques, and brace application.
• Transfer and ambulate patients, lift orthopedic devices, and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, twisting, reaching, and squatting.
• Interact effectively with physicians, patients, parents, and staff.
• Communicate problems and observations to the healthcare team.
• Adhere to department guest relations guidelines.

Requirements

• High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required.
• Course work in biology or physics preferred.
• 1+ years pediatric experience in orthopedics with proven competency in all relevant areas of practice preferred.
• BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification (American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council) required within 90 days.
• Ability to lift objects up to 75 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, twisting, and reaching.
• Familiarity with personal computer operations and functions.

Qualifications

• CMA-Certified Medical Assistant (American Association of Medical Assistants) preferred.
• ORTHO-Orthopedic Technician certification (National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists, Inc.) preferred.
