About the role
This role will support orthopedic services, working with a total joint surgeon. You will have the opportunity to see patients independently in clinic, assist in the OR, and participate in orthopedic call. The practice consists of orthopedic subspecialty surgeons, APPs, and Primary Care Sports Medicine physicians.
Location & Setting
Atrium Health Musculoskeletal Institute Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Indian Trail in an ambulatory care setting, with coverage at Union and Union West hospitals.
Responsibilities
- See patients in the clinical setting
- First assist in surgery, including primary total joint procedures
- Assist with orthopedic call
- Serve a diverse patient population as an independent practitioner in the clinical setting
Team & Support Structure
The team consists of five orthopedic surgeons, one primary care sports medicine physician, and five APPs. A robust onboarding process includes opportunities to shadow in the OR and clinics as needed.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master's Degree preferred
- Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, certified by NCCPA
- Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to start
- Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration for prescription writing required to start
- Two years of orthopedic, urgent care, or emergency medicine experience preferred

Pay
Pay Range: $51.05 - $76.60 per hour
Schedule
- Full-time position, 40 hours per week
- Clinic days: Monday through Friday, 0800 to 1700
- Rotation through the call schedule is required
- OR days: hours vary
