Orthopedic Surgeon - Generalist (Knee Preferred)

MaineHealth Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Orthopedic Surgeon to join their expanding, team-based practice serving the coastal communities of Knox and Waldo Counties. This position is ideal for a general orthopedic surgeon with a strong interest in knee procedures, who values a collaborative environment and a diverse clinical practice.
Practice Overview
Established, well-respected Orthopedics & Sports Medicine program
Two primary locations: Rockport and Belfast, Maine
Integrated care model with experienced APP support, rehabilitation services, and care coordination
Strong referral base across primary care and specialty services in the region
Position Details
Scope: General Orthopedics with opportunity to build elective and procedural volume in knee-focused care
Practice Sites: Clinical and daytime OR responsibilities shared between Rockport and Belfast, ME
Call Coverage: 1:10 weekend call rotation
1:4 weekday call rotation
Call coverage based out of Rockport, ME
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive orthopedic care across outpatient, inpatient, and surgical settings
Perform a broad range of general orthopedic procedures, with opportunity to develop knee specialty focus
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team including physicians, APPs, physical therapy, and care management
Contribute to quality improvement and program development initiatives
Qualifications
MD or DO degree with Board Certification or Eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery
Fellowship training welcomed but not required; interest/experience in knee procedures preferred
Eligible for licensure in the State of Maine
Strong commitment to patient-centered care, teamwork, and community engagement
