Orthodontic Dental Assistant

About the role

Bensonhurst Dental Care is a multi-doctor state-of-the-art practice delivering the very best care and customer service to patients of all ages. Our offices are located in Brooklyn, and we are open Monday – Friday. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who has a strong desire for self-improvement and excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Greeting, seating, and dismissing patients in accordance with office procedures in a timely manner.
• Preparing patients for treatment by checking them in and performing preliminary treatment as directed.
• Aiding doctors thoroughly and completely with orthodontic procedures with a high degree of professionalism and efficiency.
• Properly recording electronic chart entries regarding the details of each visit.
• Preparing and cleaning operatories for patient treatment.
• Delivering orthodontic and oral hygiene instructions clearly and thoroughly with the use of visual aids.
• Obtaining patient records, including photos and impressions for study models.
• Helping to maintain a clean and well-stocked clinic.
• Communicating effectively with and attending to the needs of patients.

Requirements

• Certified Dental Assistant, licensed or in process of licensure by the State of New York (please see this link for details).
• Knowledge of procedures/terminology and all related instruments and equipment.
• Ability to provide infection control/sterilization in accordance with industry standards.
• General knowledge of dental equipment maintenance.
• General knowledge of electronic patient record use and associated computer skills.

Physical Requirements

• Maintain a healthy lifestyle.
• Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Excellent vision and hearing.
• In good physical shape to withstand frequent bending, stooping, leaning, sitting, and walking.

Skills
