Job Summary

The Manager Nursing manages 24/7 unit/department operations or a business function. Key responsibilities include:

  • Operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes.
  • Achieving adherence to standards of care and reducing clinical practice variation.
  • Ensuring a culture of accountability and transparency in the provision of care.
  • Supporting the achievement of internal/external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations.
  • Ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Managing admissions and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Facilitating effective interdisciplinary care coordination within and across departments.
  • Safeguarding appropriate clinical competencies among staff to meet patient care needs.
  • Maintaining regular equipment maintenance according to regulatory and/or accreditation standards.
  • Managing nursing practice and unit operations, monitoring, evaluating, and ensuring the provision of nursing care meets established policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining staffing in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines.
  • Managing operating expenses, including the utilization of supplies and equipment.
  • Identifying cost reduction opportunities and implementing actions to achieve savings.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Licensure/Certifications: Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. National Nursing Certification in Specialty or Nursing Leadership preferred. BLS recognized by AHA required upon hire.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in healthcare required. At least one year of experience in a leadership role preferred.
