Ortho Operating Room Supervisor RN
About the role
The Orthopaedic Outpatient Surgery Center (OOSC) is seeking a full-time Operating Room Supervisor. The OOSC exclusively serves DMOS surgeons performing various orthopaedic procedures ranging from hand surgeries to total joint replacements. This position operates Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
- Create, maintain, and support an environment fostering teamwork, empowering staff, and promoting positive physician and patient relations.
- Oversee daily surgery schedules; manage and communicate changes promptly across all areas.
- Review and establish case orders based on physician preferences, patient needs, and equipment availability.
- Coordinate with control staff to ensure patient pre-admission requirements are met and assist with anesthesia chart reviews and patient approvals.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and communicate any issues to the Surgical Services Clinical Manager.
- Monitor healthcare providers to ensure they meet their privileges and responsibilities.
- Perform other tasks necessary to enhance operational efficiency and provide excellent patient care.
Requirements
- Current, unrestricted RN license to practice in Iowa.
- Active BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Two years of prior experience in orthopaedics or an ASC.
- Able to prioritize tasks and work independently.
- Flexibility to adjust hours based on scheduled cases.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to handle busy environments and adapt to changing situations.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in an ASC or orthopaedic setting.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
