What you will do:

  • Provide direct Orientation and Mobility instruction to students who are blind or visually impaired.
  • Work with students who may also have developmental, physical, cognitive, or multiple disabilities.
  • Deliver individualized instruction in one-on-one and school-based settings.
  • Teach students safe and effective travel techniques that improve independence.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Orientation and Mobility goals within student IEPs.
  • Complete evaluations, progress reports, and required documentation.
  • Use IEP Direct to document quarterly progress.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, families, and classroom staff.
  • Integrate Orientation and Mobility goals into classroom and community activities.
  • Adapt instruction, materials, and assessments to each student’s age, abilities, and needs.
  • Apply current O&M techniques for students ages 3–21.

What you will need:

  • Current ACVREP certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) or current National Orientation and Mobility Certification (NOMC).

Pay

  • $75,000 - $95,000 per year

Schedule

  • Full-time and part-time schedules are available.
  • The school will consider someone available as little as two days per week.
