Job Summary
The Organ Placement Clinical Coordinator is a registered nurse responsible for evaluating deceased donor organ offers, patient selection, and transplant coordination.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Receives all organ offers through the OPTN/UNOS Donor Net Online Portal and disposes of them within 60 minutes.
- Reviews and interprets organ matches to identify appropriate recipients and communicate waiver information.
- Presents critical aspects of organ offers to the Transplant Surgeon, including donor history and clinical details.
- Coordinates transplant events, including patient hospital admission setup, clinical team notifications, and organ recovery logistics.
- Provides advanced patient selection assistance, reviews transplant candidates, and documents all communications and decisions.
- Attends listing committees and updates patient status in UNet.
- Performs nursing assessments, educates patients, and documents all relevant data in the OTTR database and MIRACLE.
- Participates in quality assessment and performance improvement activities.
- Accepts special projects related to transplant care and patient safety.
Qualification
- Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.
- A minimum of an Associate's degree in Nursing is required, with a Bachelor's degree preferred.
- A valid Florida RN license is required.
- Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance throughout employment.
