About the role

The Order Checker ensures the accuracy of all customer orders leaving the warehouse by inspecting and verifying completed orders, documenting discrepancies, and correcting them before loading for delivery. This position may also review and inspect the accuracy of returning route delivery trucks, document discrepancies, and make necessary changes before finalizing the check-in process.

Responsibilities

• Verifies the accuracy of customer orders by inspecting built pallets to ensure they are adequately built, stabilized, and secure for transportation, and reviewing pick tickets to confirm product type and quantity. Communicates with warehouse teammates to correct any discovered mistakes.
• Inspects returning route delivery trucks to determine proper condition for the check-in process and performs blind counts to compare reported quantities. Communicates issues to route delivery drivers and makes necessary changes before finalizing the check-in process.
• Documents discrepancies, changes, additions, or subtractions (e.g., miss-picks, pallet types, out-of-stocks) on proper reports (load bay diagrams/pick tickets) and provides information to appropriate personnel.
• Accounts for all returned product and deposit items on route delivery trucks, ensuring correct classification (e.g., out-of-date, damaged, good items, pallets).
• Maintains cleanliness and safety of the work area and warehouse; performs additional tasks such as pallet building as requested by management.

Requirements

• Attention to detail and understanding of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere while walking and repetitively lifting up to 30 lbs.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to collaborate within a team environment and coordinate dependable warehouse processes.
• Ability to adapt to different work areas and meet minimum expectations throughout the workday.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions from a computer screen.
• Ability to differentiate packages and work in a noisy, non-climate-controlled environment (hot in summer, cold in winter).
• Self-starter who takes initiative and seeks value-add opportunities.
• Flexibility to adapt to schedule/hour changes based on business demands.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Up to 12 months of relevant work experience.
• Preferred: PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) Certification; Pallet Jack experience.
