Agricultural Orchard Labor

Workers will perform tasks such as harvesting, pruning, peeling, thinning, and packing Asian pear fruit into boxes. Tools used may include knives, peelers, and stem clippers.

Responsibilities

• Harvesting Asian pear fruit
• Pruning trees
• Peeling fruit
• Thinning fruit
• Packing fruit into boxes
• Using hand tools as directed
• Following instructions and directions from a company supervisor
• Performing basic duties in a timely and proficient manner without close supervision
• Complying with all safety rules and regulations
• Working outdoors in various weather conditions including sun, rain, wind, and extreme temperatures
• Performing assigned work and following supervisor’s instructions
• Standing, sitting, bending, reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working on their feet for long periods
• Working outdoors in fields that may be wet with dew and rain, and during light rain, snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity, and extreme temperatures
• Working Saturdays

Qualifications

• Ability to comprehend and follow instructions from a company supervisor
• Effective communication skills to interact with supervisors
• Physical ability to perform tasks such as standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and working in various weather conditions
• Ability to work independently and without close supervision
• Understanding and compliance with safety regulations
• Ability to work in an outdoor environment with exposure to natural elements and potential allergens
