Job Summary
Aid surgeons with general oral procedures. Inform patients about pre- and post-operative instructions. Provide diagnostic information through x-rays, dental impressions, and casts. Monitor patient vital signs during surgery. Document treatments in patient records.
Essential Functions
- Set up operating area based on procedure type.
- Pass surgical tools, prepare dressings, and remove sutures/debris.
- Clean sterile instruments and equipment according to IFUs.
- Attach necessary monitoring equipment before surgery.
- Prepare patients for procedure: obtain and record vital signs.
- Handle instrumentation and equipment safely pre/post-procedure.
- Maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures.
- Prevent aspiration and protect patient’s lips, cheeks, and tongue.
- Monitor and instruct on post-operative care.
- Chart treatment details.
- Provide diagnostic information through x-rays, dental impressions, and casts.
- Schedule appointments and confirm bookings.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Less than 1 year of dental or surgical tech experience or less than 1 year of MA experience in a dental or oral surgery.
Licenses & Certifications
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA or American Red Cross.
- RST-Registered Surgical Technologist - NBSTSA.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to follow oral surgeon’s directions.
- Quick, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Good manual dexterity and standing for long periods.
- Reliable and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Teamwork and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Epic experience preferred.
Shift & Work Type
- Days (United States of America).
- PRN/Intermittent.
