Oracle Technical Lead - Hyperion - Assistant Director

About the Role
This role requires extensive Oracle expertise to support the Global Planning & Budgeting portfolio. The workload primarily involves EPM systems, including Hyperion Planning, Essbase, and FDM (over 80%). You will work with Oracle Cloud Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) processes and solutions, such as Planning, FDMEE, and Hyperion Financial Reporting, and apply a strong understanding of multidimensional concepts.
Responsibilities
- Translate detailed business requirements, design deliverables, and solution architecture into comprehensive technical specifications.
- Maintain effective and consistent communication within the team, with peers, leadership, and other IT groups. Proactively raise issues to project managers and leads as needed.
- Produce high-quality application engineering deliverables in alignment with project timelines.
- Build and unit test projects according to detailed design specifications.
- Provide thought leadership and technical guidance to engineering staff.
- Lead a team of developers across multiple locations and time zones.
- Develop and deliver technical systems while ensuring compliance with architectural principles, global product guidelines, and usability standards.
- Provide support and documentation to assist in sustaining projects during the transition to production.
- Adhere to application engineering methodologies, standards, and code reviews.
- Identify potential risks or points of contention and notify project leadership of remediation plans.
- Work closely with application engineering leads, solutions delivery teams, operations managers, and peer staff engineers to coordinate project deliverables.
- Proactively identify application engineering strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
- Anticipate project issues, define problems, identify causes, and implement solutions.
- Apply judgment in implementing methodologies, processes, and practices to meet project requirements, including product design, information security, code maintainability, and reliability.
- Manage multiple technical challenges across assigned projects using strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
Requirements
- More than 13 years of proven, hands-on experience gathering requirements and designing, developing, customizing, testing, and implementing Oracle Cloud services, including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) IaaS/PaaS, Essbase databases, and Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service within the Oracle EPM SaaS suite.
- Expertise in Oracle Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.x, FDMEE, and Hyperion Financial Reports.
- Exceptional understanding of multidimensional concepts and experience with large, complex Essbase design and development.
- Expert-level experience in all areas of Essbase, including outline design, member formulas, Calc scripts, MaxL scripts, Report scripts, load rules, ASO, and BSO storage.
- Ability to create batch scripts using epmautomate, CLI, and MaxL.
- Experience building custom scripting using REST-API, Groovy, and Java.
- Experience creating pipelines to trigger hourly, weekly, and nightly schedules.
- Proficiency in custom Groovy scripting for flex forms (EPBCS) and Groovy Business Rules to trigger jobs on OCI Essbase.
- Extensive experience developing Hyperion Forms, Task Lists, menus, and smart lists.
- Extensive experience implementing Oracle EPM solutions globally.
- Strong business process experience in Financial Planning & Forecasting, including understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and consolidation processes.
- Exposure to supporting budgeting activities such as annual budgets and forecasts.
- Clear understanding of the full lifecycle development in a Hyperion Planning environment, including design, development, and maintenance of Essbase databases.
- Experience in process and technical optimization of Hyperion Planning and Essbase-based processes.
- Proficiency in setting up Hyperion Planning environments, developing solutions, and migrating to production and non-production environments.
- Proficiency in SQL Server, including writing complex stored procedures, schema design, and SSIS packages.
- Intermediate, hands-on experience with the Excel Essbase Add-in, Smart View VBA, and the Essbase API.
- Experience in Hyperion Financial Reporting and working in Windows environments, including batch scripting.
Skills
- 10-15 years of hands-on experience with Oracle EPM System, including Hyperion Planning, Essbase, and FDMEE.
- Prior experience with Oracle EPM version 11.1.2.x.
- Strong knowledge of Essbase and Calc Scripts/Calc Manager.
- Hands-on experience with Smart View VBA.
- Strong ability to understand finance and accounting principles.
- Experience working on large Hyperion application development and support projects.
- Experience with global implementations of Oracle EPM.
- Solid interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills to operate as a contributing member of global technical teams.
- Strong technical skills in designing, developing, debugging, documenting, and implementing applications.
- Strong knowledge and experience in Agile development methodology.
Qualifications
- A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- Oracle certifications are preferred.
Schedule
This role is based in Alpharetta, GA, and requires availability during U.S. Eastern Time business hours.
Pay
The base salary range for this job in the U.S. is $122,200 to $228,600. For New York City Metro Area, Washington State, and California (excluding Sacramento), the range is $146,700 to $259,700. Individual salaries are determined by factors such as education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.
