ORACLE SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR – FUSION CLOUD
About the role
Be part of an innovative team that is developing and bringing the best technologies to municipal government at Cary. As the Oracle System Administrator – Fusion Cloud, you will perform daily administration and upkeep of Oracle Fusion Cloud applications (ERP, SCM, HCM) and related pillars and modules (e.g., EPM, PPM), including managing user accounts, monitoring system performance, configuring new services and features, implementing security best practices, resolving problems, and ensuring smooth operation of the Town of Cary’s Oracle Fusion Cloud environments.
Responsibilities
- User Administration: Create, modify, and delete user accounts; manage identity and access management within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Oracle Fusion Cloud (ERP, SCM, HCM), and related applications; assign appropriate roles and security profiles based on business requirements.
- System Monitoring: Continuously monitor Oracle Fusion Cloud applications and OCI for performance issues, resource utilization, and errors; proactively identify and resolve problems; stay current with Oracle service and security announcements and inform management of potential impacts.
- Identity Management: Implement and maintain robust security policies including user authentication, data encryption, and access controls; develop and maintain OCI identity-based access administration as applicable.
- Release Management: Support smooth deployment of quarterly updates with minimal disruption; maintain system stability and performance post-update; ensure compliance with regulatory changes incorporated into updates; align with best practices for testing, approval, and post-release support.
- Application Configuration: Update system parameters, lookups, and profile options; configure application settings and workflows within ERP (Financials), SCM, HCM, and related components to meet Cary requirements; configure and maintain Business Process Management (BPM) workflows; implement minor customizations and data mapping as needed; monitor integrations and troubleshoot related issues; recommend improvements to functionality, security, and reliability.
- Environment Management: Monitor and maintain all Oracle Fusion Cloud environments; coordinate use of lower environments for development and testing; support Fusion Cloud-related projects including migrations and upgrades; ensure smooth implementations and deployments of new services and features; partner with IT infrastructure, network, and security teams.
- Data Mapping: Monitor data quality and perform data cleansing; execute data import and export processes including bulk data loads using HDL Data Loader or other tools; investigate and resolve data discrepancies.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to Oracle applications and system configuration; collaborate with staff and business teams; coordinate with Oracle Support, managed services partners, and vendors to resolve complex issues.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, user guides, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Capacity Planning: Monitor and assess future system requirements; collaborate with infrastructure, database engineering, and other teams to plan for future hardware or software needs.
- Other Duties: Perform other job-related tasks as required; work is generally during normal business hours but may occur outside normal hours during quarterly releases or outages; occasional on-call availability may be required; collaborate with Oracle functional and technical team members.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Database: Working knowledge of Oracle database concepts including SQL, PL/SQL, data structures, and performance optimization within Oracle Fusion Cloud and OCI.
- Cross-module Experience: Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Human Capital Management (HCM), and Supply Chain Management (SCM).
- Networking Fundamentals: Basic understanding of network protocols and configurations.
- Problem-solving and Troubleshooting: Ability to analyze complex technical issues and identify effective solutions.
- Scripting and Automation: Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Groovy to automate repetitive tasks.
- Communication: Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and four or more years of experience in security frameworks and compliance; implementation, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise applications.
- Preferred: Two or more years of experience and knowledge in Oracle Fusion Cloud applications (ERP/HCM/SCM), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and Oracle Fusion Cloud role-based access control (RBAC); Oracle certifications such as Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Process Essentials (ERP and/or SCM), Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Implementation Professional (Financials, Procurement), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Cloud Ops Professional; or currently available equivalents.
Physical Requirements
Most of the work in this class is sedentary. Visual acuity is required to examine computer screens and handwritten and typewritten materials; ability to speak and hear is required. Operating a computer requires some physical dexterity in the hands.
Special Requirements
- Requires a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Requires drug testing, background check (which may include criminal history check, SBI fingerprinting, motor vehicle records check, education verification and credit history review), and satisfactory reference checks prior to employment.
- Participation in occasional on-call availability may be required.
- Must be eligible for and able to maintain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) access and certification.
- This is a full-time, on-site position.
