Role Overview
A surgical technologist assists surgeons during pediatric intraoperative procedures, adhering to AORN and OSA standards. They collaborate with healthcare team members to deliver patient-centered, cost-effective care and provide excellent customer service to patients, families, nurses, and physicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain sterile technique and prepare for procedures with age-appropriate instrumentation and supplies.
- Utilize physicians' preference cards and pass instrumentation efficiently.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and serve as a role model, educator, coach, and patient advocate.
- Assist in meeting departmental goals through teamwork and open communication.
- Work across main and south campuses, potentially taking call as per departmental policy.
Qualifications & Skills
- Associate's degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited program.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
- CPR certification preferred at hire or obtained within two weeks.
- Strong teamwork, communication, flexibility, and customer service skills.
