OR Attendant - Days

About the Role

Position responsible for preparing patients and the environment prior to surgery for the medical and nurse team. This full-time role is located in the Orthopedic OR at Memorial City Hospital, with hours from Monday to Friday, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm.

Responsibilities

• Assists with physical preparation of patient and physical environment prior to surgery according to the age/needs of the patient/population served; transports and transfers patients as necessary.
• Functions as a porter between departments ensuring required medical supplies, information, specimens, and products are delivered in a timely fashion.
• Ensures safe care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards of care, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, and accuracy of practice.
• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
• Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
• Maintains the unit, stocks supplies, and prepares rooms for the next case.

Requirements

• Minimum one (1) year experience in an operating room environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and read and write English.
• Ability to perform duties requiring standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
