Responsibilities

  • Transports patients to and from surgery and PACU safely
  • Assists Operating Room personnel in positioning patients
  • Assists Operating Room personnel in setting up cases; opens sterile items to surgical field
  • Cleans and maintains surgery areas between cases, at end of day, weekly, and monthly schedules
  • Decontaminates operating room and all removable equipment between cases
  • Collects, segregates, and disposes of all waste materials in all areas
  • Maintains levels of scrub supplies, solutions, caps, shoe covers, and cleaning supplies
  • Removes and replaces all linen on patient beds and gurneys as necessary
  • Cleans and maintains autoclaves every other week
  • Operates and maintains all equipment used in meeting job responsibilities
  • Develops familiarity with precautions, use, and disposal methods of all chemicals used
  • Demonstrates competence in relation to the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan
  • Assists with training new employees
  • Ability to cross-train to other operational areas
  • Completes required hours of orthopedic education topics annually for Hip and Knee program certification
  • Meets clinical competencies of hip and knee certification program to directly care for Hip and Knee patients
  • Performs other duties as assigned
