Optometry Technician (bilingual)
Primary Objective
As an Optometry Technician, you will interact with and support patients of all ages to ensure smooth patient flow and provide excellent care and service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
Work up patients prior to eye exams by documenting chief complaints and gathering medical history
Measure visual acuity and perform other tests as planned
Perform automated lensometry to measure the prescription of lenses
Conduct autorefraction to provide an objective estimate of refractive error
Capture fundus photography to document the interior surface of the eye
Perform OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) imaging to capture detailed images of the retina
Greet patients and answer phone calls promptly and professionally
Absorb patients with check-in and check-out procedures
Verify insurance eligibility and other public assistance programs
Provide patient education
Conduct patient outreach
Document notes in electronic medical records
Send mailed or electronic communications to patients
Maintain an organized and efficient office environment
Assist with inventory management by tracking medical supplies, records, and equipment
Ensure all equipment is properly maintained
Participate in team meetings and training sessions
Assist other clinics when necessary
Perform other duties or tasks assigned by the Director of Optometry
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- One year of experience working in a healthcare setting
- Six months of experience as an optometry technician
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to multi-task with organizational skills and effective team dynamics, flexibility and collaboration
- Excellent time management skills
- Willingness to learn and grow in the role is key
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with patients and peers
- Adherence to infection control protocols and practices
