This part-time position is located at Valley State Prison in Chowchilla, CA (Madera County). Main communication for this position will be through email.

About the Role

Under the general direction of the Receiver’s Medical Executive, the Optometrist, Correctional Facility, conducts eye examinations using observation and instruments to determine visual acuity, perception, focus, and coordination, and to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities. Maintains order, supervises the conduct of inmates, and protects the safety of persons and property.

Schedule

This is a part-time position working 28 hours per week.

Pay

The monthly part-time salary range for this position is $5,448.10 to $7,223.30. Effective July 1, 2025, salaries are subject to a 3% base salary reduction and 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027 as part of the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). Part-time employees are subject to these conditions on a prorated basis.
