Optometrist

About the role

The optometrist will conduct comprehensive eye exams for Acuity Eyecare Group and practice to the full capacity of their license. The role supports practice growth by establishing patient relationships and educating patients on eye care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough eye exams, including vision tests and analysis of results.
• Diagnose sight problems (e.g., nearsightedness, farsightedness) and eye diseases.
• Perform verbal interviews with patients to determine health/ocular history, medical issues, and visual needs.
• Instruct, recommend, and advise patients on remediation options for ametropias, systemic/ocular diseases, and visual wants/needs.
• Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications.
• Recommend or provide treatments such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation (brand-specific).
• Provide pre- and postoperative care for patients undergoing eye surgery (e.g., cataract or refractive surgery).
• Evaluate patients for systemic diseases (e.g., diabetes) and refer to other healthcare providers as needed.
• Promote eye health through patient counseling, including contact lens care and exam frequency.
• Clearly communicate lens recommendations to opticians/sales staff, emphasizing high-technology coatings and designs.
• Generate patient loyalty and promote the values of Acuity Eyecare Group.
• Handoff patients to support staff with a recap discussion.

Requirements

• Doctorate of Optometry from a credentialed institution.
• Must have passed all optometric state boards.
