Full-time position with Acuity Eyecare Group in Providence, Rhode Island.
About the role
The optometrist will conduct comprehensive eye exams and practice to the full capacity of their license, supporting practice growth by establishing patient relationships and educating patients on eye care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct eye exams and vision tests, analyzing results to diagnose sight problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and eye diseases.
- Perform verbal interviews with patients to determine health and ocular history, medical issues, reasons for their visit, and visual wants and needs.
- Instruct, recommend, and advise patients on options for remediation of ametropias, systemic and ocular disease, and visual needs.
- Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications.
- Recommend or provide treatments such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation (brand-specific).
- Provide pre- and postoperative care to patients undergoing eye surgery, including examinations following cataract or refractive surgery.
- Evaluate patients for systemic diseases such as diabetes and refer them to other healthcare providers as needed.
- Promote eye health through patient counseling, including explaining contact lens care and exam frequency.
- Clearly communicate recommendations to opticians and sales staff for optimal lenses with the latest technology coatings and designs.
- Generate patient loyalty and promote the values of Acuity Eyecare Group.
- Handoff patients to support staff with a recap discussion.
Requirements
- Doctorate of Optometry from a credentialed institution.
- Must have passed all optometric state boards.
