Clarkson Eyecare is looking for an Optometric Technician in O'Fallon, MO to assist in providing a world-class Total Patient Experience. This role involves a wide range of duties, including operating optical equipment to perform initial testing and preparing patients for exams with an Optometrist.

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Offices open Monday–Friday 8am–7pm, Saturday 8am–1pm
  • Must have open availability to work any shift within these hours, including occasional earlier or later shifts as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong customer service skills

  • Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate patient flow and assist the doctor in preliminary testing
  • Verify medical and vision insurances
  • Effectively communicate with patients, doctors, and managers
  • Answer inquiries through phone, email, and in-person requests
  • Embrace and execute the Total Patient Experience to build relationships with patients while delivering great medical support
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including HIPAA
  • Practice urgency to value patients' and doctors' time
  • Operate manual lensometer, auto-lensometer, autorefractor/keratometer, retinal camera, visual field, GDX, or OCT
  • Follow scripting for testing equipment (photos, visual fields, visual activity, etc.)
  • Clean all examination equipment, including tonometer tip
  • Interact courteously and professionally with all levels of employees
  • Perform general office duties and cleaning as assigned by manager
  • Create a positive work environment by being team-oriented and patient-focused
  • Commit to work hours that meet business needs, which may include weekends, schedule changes, or extended hours

Qualifications

  • Previous medical office experience preferred; previous ophthalmic experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year in a position interacting with customers/patients or equivalent combination of education and experience

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%)
  • Regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%)
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
  • Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands for constant grasping, writing/typing, and technology use
  • Visual and auditory acuity, including color, depth, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus (required 100% of the time)
  • Occasional driving or climbing may be necessary

Work is primarily performed in a standard office or clinical setting, with possible travel to other locations for essential job duties.
