Optometric Technician - Medical Assistant - Part Time - Bilingual Spanish

About the role

The optometric technician plays a crucial role in ensuring high quality patient care at America's Best locations. They assist the optometrist by conducting pre-screenings and tests prior to the Doctor’s examination, which helps in providing the best care possible.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance of the doctor’s office and pretest room.
• Understand and explain ocular terminology and diseases, including ocular abbreviations.
• Complete necessary paperwork and perform testing on patients prior to the doctor’s examination.
• Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
• Perform exam pre-screening.
• Review prescriptions and/or patient information carefully and identify special needs.
• Consult with the optician, optometrist, or retail management when necessary.
• Ensure that all equipment, both doctor’s and pre-test, is properly maintained.

Qualifications

• Fluent in reading and speaking both English and Spanish.
• Previous retail/optical experience preferred, but not required.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Able to learn and teach optical knowledge clearly and concisely.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Detail-oriented and multitasking/time-management skills.
• A professional attitude and appearance.
