About the role
The Optometric Assistant will focus on the patient by seeking to understand their needs to create value. They will demonstrate a positive attitude and resilience, adapting positively to pressure, setbacks, challenges, and change to achieve and sustain peak effectiveness. The role involves driving for success by delivering excellent performance through seizing opportunities and proactively taking concrete actions that adhere to Southwest Eye Care policies and procedures.
Responsibilities

- Delivers excellent performance by seizing opportunities and proactively taking concrete actions that adhere to Southwest Eye Care policies and procedures
- Overcomes obstacles and goes the extra mile
- Assists doctors during clinic times by taking patient health histories, visual acuities, and performing press requested by the doctors
- Prepares exam rooms for clinic and closes down rooms after clinic
- Performs front desk duties including answering phones, greeting patients, checking in patients, prepping charts, filing, verifying insurance, billing professional fees, and scheduling appointments
- Carries out optical duties such as frame selections, ophthalmic lens ordering, frame ordering, glasses adjustments, dispensing glasses, dispensing contacts, repairing glasses, verifying glasses and frame orders, and notifying patients when product is available
- Handles contact lens responsibilities including patient contact lens orders, verifying contact lens orders, ordering contact lens trials, and I & R classes
- Orders medical supplies, eye drops used during patient visits, and sample prescription drops
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Three years related optical experience or customer service experience preferred
- ABO, NCLE, CPO, CPOA, COA certifications preferred
