Full-time, Regular position with 40 scheduled weekly hours.

Compensation Range: $64,200.00 - $96,200.00

Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in the qualification and operation of the MTW-OPAL target area vacuum system, target positioner, and other target area diagnostics.
  • Maintain, repair, and calibrate all target area equipment to ensure proper functionality and readiness of optical and mechanical systems.
  • Work with Engineering and Laser Development team members to perform equipment upgrades/improvements and resolve ongoing issues or deficiencies.
  • Serve as an instrument specialist for advanced system hardware and perform advanced calibration procedures without oversight.
  • Perform maintenance per procedure, troubleshoot equipment issues, and provide oversight to junior operators.
  • Complete qualification and stand watch in the operation of highly specialized equipment supporting MTW-OPAL operations.
  • Perform system upgrade projects under the direction of a project manager.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and 5 years of relevant experience required (in a technical position preferred), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of custom software used to run the laser, as well as commercial software.
  • Use of specialty software to operate certain experimental diagnostics.
  • Ability to operate mechanical rigging using overhead cranes.
  • Ability to operate several types of pumps, including cryogenic, roughing, and turbo.
  • Knowledge of radiological decontamination processes.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment.
  • Qualified as a Radiation Worker at time of hire is preferred; otherwise, must qualify within 12 months of hire under LLE’s direction.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Skills

  • Experience with repairing mechanical systems (including vacuum or pressurized systems) preferred.
  • Minor experience with optical systems (including alignment and troubleshooting) preferred.
  • Experience working in a team or leading a team preferred.
  • Experience using control software or working with PLC control systems preferred.
  • Experience performing radiological management activities preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn additional software preferred.
