The Systems Engineering team within Optics develops, implements and maintains the technology and infrastructure that supports the critical physical security systems for Amazon Corporate Security (ACS) and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

About the role

The Optics Systems Engineering team is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer that can help deliver best-in-class physical security systems to our 2.5MM+ cardholder customer base. As the team's scope continues to grow, you will build on the current infrastructure and drive development of new solutions that exceed customer expectations. As a member of the team overseeing one of the largest Physical Access Control Systems in the world, you must be comfortable troubleshooting and deep diving to create solutions for issues no other company has faced.

Responsibilities

• Investigate new ways to improve operations and define solutions to technically complex issues.
• Work with the development team to automate manual tasks and enhance fleet maintenance through tooling.
• Investigate issues impacting major services and resolve them before they affect customers.
• Dive deep into service interdependencies and region-specific configurations to identify root causes.
• Study and continuously learn from industry-recognized engineers.

Requirements

• 4+ years of site reliability engineering (SRE), systems engineering, systems administration, DevOps, security administration, or network administration experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or relevant work experience.
• Experience in site reliability engineering (SRE), systems engineering, systems administration, DevOps, security administration, or network administration.
• Experience in systems engineering.
• Experience in any of the following: Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Bash, Shell, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of TCP/IP and networking protocols such as HTTP and DNS.
• Experience designing and developing scripts to automate operational tasks and reviewing scripting changes for maintainability, scalability, and security.
• Experience working in a 24/7 production environment.
• Experience with service-oriented architecture and web services.

Pay

• USA, NY, New York: $114,900.00 - $185,000.00 USD annually.
• USA, VA, Herndon: $104,500.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually.
