About the role
An Optical Technician delivers a world-class Total Patient Experience by supporting both medical needs and retail sales. They dispense and fit glasses and contacts based on prescriptions from Optometrists and Ophthalmologists, connecting patient needs with suitable products and services.
Responsibilities
- Build patient relationships and determine their needs
- Assist patients in selecting frames
- Operate optical instruments
- Educate patients on lenses and frames
- Accurately measure facial and eye parameters
- Dispense orders
- Perform frame repairs and adjustments
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of customer or patient interaction experience, preferably in a medical or ophthalmic setting
- High school diploma or GED required
- ABO and NCLE certifications preferred but not mandatory
- Must pass background checks
- Proof of legal right to work is required
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong fine motor skills
- Visual and auditory acuity
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to operate optical equipment
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Primarily an office or clinical setting with activities involving walking, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and occasional driving or climbing. Requires good vision, color perception, and manual dexterity to perform job functions effectively.
