About the role
We support the development of advanced optical and optoelectronic systems, contributing across system design, laboratory validation, and product integration. This role offers hands-on exposure to real-world engineering challenges while collaborating with cross-functional teams from concept through testing and qualification.
Responsibilities
- Support the design and analysis of optical systems, including lenses, illumination, detectors, lasers, and optomechanical components
- Perform hands-on laboratory work, including optical alignment, characterization, and troubleshooting of prototype systems
- Auxiliary with system modeling and performance analysis using optical simulation and data analysis tools
- Execute engineering experiments, including data collection, analysis, and documentation of results
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support system integration, debugging, and product development
- Contribute to verification, validation, and qualification activities for optical system performance
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in optical engineering with a focus on developing innovative technical solutions and getting products to market
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- Foundational experience with optical systems, photonics, or optoelectronic devices through coursework, research, or internships
- Hands-on laboratory experience with optical alignment, measurement, and experimental data collection
- Basic understanding of optical principles such as imaging, diffraction, polarization, and radiometry
- Familiarity with optical design, simulation, or data analysis tools (e.g., Zemax, Code V, MATLAB, Python)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to work in a collaborative environment

Pay
The base salary range for this role is $111,300 - $178,200. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
