Optical Sales Technician - Training Provided

About the role

The Optical Technician will play a crucial role in enhancing the Total Patient Experience, maximizing retail sales, and supporting patients' medical needs.

Responsibilities

• Execute the Total Patient Experience to build strong relationships with all patients
• Determine patient needs and exceed expectations through effective communication and product recommendations
• Select and fit frames based on style, color, and patient measurements
• Operate and calibrate auto-lensometer and manual lensometer
• Educate patients on various lens options, coatings, and frame types
• Accurately measure and record patient data including bridge, eye size, temple length, seg heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt
• Dispense and adjust glasses and contact lens orders following established processes
• Provide excellent customer service and support

Qualifications

• Previous medical office experience preferred
• Previous ophthalmic experience strongly preferred
• Minimum of 1 year in a customer-facing role or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Favorable result on background check as required by state
• Ability to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or GED required

Licenses and Credentials

• ABO and NCLE certifications preferred but not required

Systems and Technology

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

Physical Requirements

• Frequent walking (75%)
• Sitting (50%)
• Standing (50%)
• Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%)
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
• Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
• Visual and auditory acuity including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
• Occasional driving or climbing may be necessary
