About the role

The Retail Sales Associate (Retail Optician) assists patients in selecting eyeglass frames, lenses, and lens coatings that best suit their needs. You’ll ensure lab technicians have accurate measurements and prescription information, and dispense completed glasses to patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to all patients.
• Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, and policies regarding payment, returns, and exchanges.
• Compute and process payment transactions and refunds using the in-house Point of Sale system.
• Process insurance claims efficiently.
• Maintain up-to-date product knowledge.
• Create and maintain patient files following company and HIPAA confidentiality policies.
• Assess and interpret patient needs based on prescription, facial features, lifestyle, and occupation; recommend appropriate frames, lens types, and coatings.
• Take necessary measurements, such as pupillary distance.
• Prepare detailed work orders for the lab, including patient information, prescription, lens specifications, measurements, and special instructions.
• Pull correct lenses according to work order specifications.
• Inspect final products for accuracy; adjust completed glasses to fit patients using tools like pliers, heat, or hands.
• Perform adjustments and repairs on damaged frames, replace nose pads, and fix missing screws.
• Price, stock, and straighten merchandise.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience working in retail, customer service, or sales.
• Optical industry experience is preferred but not required—we provide training.
