Optical Package Test Engineer

About the role

NVIDIA is seeking a passionate Optical Packaging Test Engineer to join the Advanced Technology Group (ATG). In this role you will be responsible for testing optical packages for NVIDIA's products, working on complex problems and delivering creative solutions that contribute to product differentiation. A strong background in computational methods for advanced manufacturing and proficiency in data visualization, optical testing, or optical systems is desired.

Responsibilities

• Perform benchtop testing using advanced optical test equipment.
• Update testing methodologies and optical equipment.
• Create new documentation to standardize workflow and procedures.
• Collect data and visualize optical parameters in test chips.
• Collaborate with multi‑functional teams within NVIDIA to define optical package testing requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Data Science, Physics or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience.

Qualifications

• Experience with optical test equipment such as lasers, OPM, BRM, and optical switches.
• Knowledge of optical connector standards.
• Basic photonic device knowledge.
• Strong problem‑solving skills.
• Strong background in computational methods for advanced manufacturing.
• Proficiency in data visualization, optical testing, or optical systems.

Skills

• Experience with data visualization using JMP.
• Basic knowledge of Python.
• Fiber industry experience.

Pay

The base salary range is $88,000 USD – $149,500 USD, determined by location, experience, and market pay for similar positions.
