About the role
This is a frontline supervisor position that supports the FedEx Safety Above All Culture and manages specific day-to-day operations and an assigned staff. The Operations Supervisor may also manage administrative employees and functions, ensuring processes comply with FedEx policies, procedures, and governmental regulations.
Responsibilities
- Serves as a champion for FedEx's Safety Above All Culture and supports all related initiatives.
- Manages hiring, terminations, coaching, training, recognition, performance evaluation, discipline, and addressing employee concerns and productivity.
- Plans, organizes, staffs, directs, and controls specific day-to-day operations to ensure safe and efficient package sortation while minimizing operational cost and maximizing quality.
- Assigns and manages employees for the movement, tracking, and administration of trailers (in conjunction with the linehaul department as applicable).
- Analyzes operational performance through direct observation, interpretation of reports, and collaboration, determining improvement opportunities and executing action plans.
- Leads daily employee and/or planning meetings to communicate operational updates and goals, including public speaking to small and large audiences.
- Participates in developing and administering company employee relations and safety strategies, maintaining confidentiality.
- Investigates, resolves, and/or escalates customer service issues as appropriate.
- Trains new employees on job duties, performance expectations, and compliance with FedEx policies, including quality assurance, SWAK, hazardous materials, Video Event Data Recorder (VEDR) coaching, and dock safety.
- Mentors and develops critical skill sets for new and/or less-experienced Operations Supervisors.
- Adapts quickly to change, displaying flexibility and urgency while leading employees in a positive and professional manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Six (6) months of experience in one of the following: package handler at FedEx, fast-paced environment (retail, hospitality, fulfillment center, warehouse, dock, or stock room/stock functions), military experience with honorable discharge, or supervisory experience.
- In lieu of experience, a certification program, Associate's Degree in a related area, or 2+ years of college courses toward a degree may be considered.

Job Conditions
- May need to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- May work in hot or cold temperatures.
- May work in an environment with loud noise and fumes.
- Minimal travel required.
Preferred Qualifications
Position is only available to current facility Operations Coordinator PT employees. The desired location for this position is Columbus, GA. Employees will be required to work at the FedEx location five days a week.
