OPS Student Assistant – Computer Vision Video Analytics (CUTR)
Hourly Rate: $18–$25 • Hours: 10–20 hours per week
About the role
The Motorcycle Injury Prevention Research (MIPI) Program conducts research and educational outreach to reduce motor-vehicle injuries and fatalities, with a focus on motorcycles and electric bicycles. The interdisciplinary MIPI team includes engineers, planners, and public health professionals with expertise in behavioral traffic safety. MIPI is currently conducting video-based research to count motorcycles and bicycles on roadways. The program is seeking an OPS student assistant to provide Computer Vision Video Analytics support.
Responsibilities
- Detect and track objects in video data using computer vision techniques
- Install and collect video cameras in field locations
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Work Environment
- Up to 20% travel for camera installation and collection
- Combination of office and field work
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to work early morning or late evening hours as required
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer vision techniques (e.g., YOLO or similar models)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to provide and receive timely feedback
- Ability to meet established deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Research experience in computer vision or video analytics
- Valid driver’s license
