About the role

As our Shift Supervisor at ENGIE’s Medical Area Total Energy Plant (MATEP) in Boston, MA, you will be responsible for directing and supervising Operations Department and other plant personnel to ensure the facility is operated and maintained in a clean, safe, and efficient manner in accordance with all Company policies and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Work internally in the physical plant and externally on the facility’s grounds or at satellite facilities
  • May be required to work overtime - relief, off-shift, and emergency coverage (nights, weekends,) and/or other, as needed, this is a rotating shift
  • Direct shift operators on the starting, control, operation, shutdown and inspection of high pressure boilers, combustion turbine generators, steam turbine generators, chillers, electrical distribution equipment, steam distribution equipment and all required plant auxiliary equipment
  • Perform regular inspection tours of the plant and distribution system including underground tunnels and electrical power systems; and prepares logs and other operating records including data collection via the plant computer
  • Train shift personnel in safety procedures and equipment use, plant operating procedures and environmental standards
  • Support the implementation of corporate and plant training programs and monitor the progress of your reports towards completion of the program training
  • Observe and comply with all standard safety codes and practices, and perform work in accordance with recognized trade and company standards and, where applicable, local, state, and federal laws including participation in emergency response team

Requirements

  • A minimum high school diploma or equivalent; with a minimum of 10 years of experience in central utility or industrial plant operations, including shift supervision and operation of boilers, turbines, chillers, electrical/steam distribution systems, and related plant equipment
  • A Valid Commonwealth of Massachusetts Second Class Engineer’s License

  • This role requires attendance at a worksite on a daily basis
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 5% of the time
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • You maintain; or have the desire to obtain a Valid CFC-2 and CFC-3 license; or, a CFC-universal license
  • This position consists of 25% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions
  • May be required to obtain a Second-Class Industrial Wastewater Treatment license
  • The employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment and clothing where appropriate because of their work around potential hazards such as loud noise, airborne particles, vibration and hazardous materials. Including but is not limited to, safety eyewear, footwear, hard hat, gloves, hearing protection, specialized clothing and a company issued uniform
  • Under certain conditions, while working in the plant, may be required to wear a respirator – respirators are required in specified areas, therefore the employee will be issued with and trained in the proper use of this equipment
  • May require repetitive stooping, bending, climbing, reaching, and carrying, intermittent lifting
  • Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolds, high-lifts, and in confined spaces
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively

Pay

Hourly Range: $106, 560 to $163, 254 USD hourly. This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate. ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
