Ophthalmic Technician I

Retina & Vitreous of Texas is a leading ophthalmology practice with six MDs and eleven offices in Houston, TX. Our mission is to provide the best possible care through personalized treatment with state-of-the-art technology in a compassionate and attentive environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the ophthalmologist by gathering data pertaining to the patient’s ocular health status.
• Perform appropriate clinical tests and accurately document patient visual complaints and history.
• Record medical and surgical data into electronic medical records.
• Administer topical ophthalmic medications under the direction of the physician.
• Absorb and assist with in-office procedures ensuring proper informed consent is obtained.
• Aid in patient education.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the workday.
• Comply with all practice procedures and protocols, including reporting errors to the supervisor or Compliance Officer.
• Participate in daily team huddles and regularly scheduled meetings.
• Contribute to the team effort by completing additional tasks or projects as needed.
• Maintain a positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism.

Qualifications/Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent, with preferred years of related experience.
• Ophthalmic and/or optometric technician experience preferred.
• Willingness and ability to travel between assigned office locations.
• Reliable transportation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility and willingness to cross-train to provide support as needed.
