Ophthalmic Techncian

About the role

Under the supervision of Lead Ophthalmic Technician, we are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to serve as an Ophthalmic Technician on our growing team at our Andover practice. This position will require travel between our other clinics as needed. Travel reimbursement is available.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties of a clinical assistant specializing in anatomy, function, and diseases of the eye
• Facilitate patient care by performing the preliminary "work up" of the patient
• Gather all past medical records
• Perform preliminary eye function and diagnostic testing needed for the physician to diagnose and treat eye conditions
• Administer eye medications under the direction of the physician
• Maintain optical and surgical instruments
• Assist in surgical procedures such as Lasik Eye Surgery

Qualifications

• No prior experience required – full in-house training program offered
• Clinical background in roles such as Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), Pharmacy Technician, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician (PCT or PCA) is a plus
• Ability to provide situational leadership
• Exceptional diplomatic communication skills
• Experience in handling difficult customer situations
• Detail oriented with ability to multitask
• Positive and professional team player

Pay & benefits

• $3,000 retention bonus available for full time Ophthalmic Technicians
• Nationally recognized certifications can be achieved after about 1-year in this role; certifications are funded by the practice

Schedule

Full Time position, Monday-Friday, variation 8:00am-5:00pm

Additional details

Boston Vision currently has 7 locations in the Metro-Boston area. We ask our staff to be open to assisting in other locations as the business demands. Additional mileage is reimbursed as a travel expense.
