Ophthalmic Tech/Scribe

About the role

The University Retina is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe to support a high-volume retina practice that provides comprehensive eye care services. The position involves assisting with patient care, documentation, and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

• Obtaining and documenting patient history
• Determining visual acuity
• Administering eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by the physician
• Performing office duties and clinical tasks, such as entering data into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
• Maintaining equipment and instruments
• Providing patient services
• Traveling to various locations as required

Requirements

• Customer service skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Independent decision-making abilities
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to type or write legibly in a dimly lit setting
• Preferred certifications: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Scribe (OSC), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
