THE OPPORTUNITY AT HAND

We’re looking for passionate and empathetic people to join our team as Ophthalmic Scribes/Techs. Our Techs and Scribes are responsible for all the pre-exam elements of the patient visit, including gathering and documenting patient information and history, conducting routine and ancillary patient testing, and educating patients regarding testing, procedures, prescription instructions, etc. They prepare the patient chart/EMR and room for exam, document patient’s chart/EMR, perform accurate ophthalmic procedures and testing, and assist ophthalmologists with procedures as needed.

OUR EXPECTATIONS OF YOU

  • Prepare the patient chart/EMR and room for exam based on the physician requirements and preferences.
  • Document the patient’s chart/EMR with patient history, testing, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, prescriptions, follow-ups, and any consultations/referrals to other practitioners.
  • Educate the patient regarding testing, procedures, prescription instructions, etc.
  • Test and record patient's far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception.
  • Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes and collect and process specimens for testing.
  • Triage emergency cases appropriately into physicians' schedule and maintain patient flow.
  • Prepare patient and procedure room and assist ophthalmologist with procedures as needed.
  • Perform first level maintenance on equipment and notify the office manager of any equipment malfunctions.
  • Utilize infection control techniques and universal precautions, and maintain confidentiality at all times.

What You'll Need To Succeed

  • You are an experienced Medical Scribe.
  • You have advanced knowledge of ophthalmology.
  • You have two years minimum of refracting experience.
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in an ophthalmic setting.
  • You are an excellent communicator – both verbally and written.
  • You are outgoing, love the idea of interacting with patients every day, and are comfortable providing white-glove service and responding quickly to patients' needs.
  • You are a dependable problem solver – you are the one people call to keep cool in stressful situations.
  • You have a positive, can-do attitude and work well in collaborative environments.
  • You are flexible – you roll with the punches and easily accept change.
  • You are knowledgeable in ocular pharmacology such as anesthetics, steroids, antibiotics, mydriatics and cycloplegics, epinephrine, miotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

What You Bring
