Ophthalmic Diagnostic Imaging Assistant

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic imaging, including but not limited to corneal topography, optical coherence tomography, color and monochromatic fundus photography, scanning laser ophthalmoscopy, fundus autofluorescence, retinal screening, fluorescein and/or indocyanine-green angiography, slit lamp biomicrography, goniography, specular microscopy, external eye photography, ocular surface interferometry, intraocular lens calculations, a-scan biometry, diagnostic b-scan ultrasonography, ultrasound biomicroscopy, and additional tests such as visual field exams, electrophysiology, color vision, and dark adaptation testing.
• Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment.
• Prepare rooms, maintaining cleanliness of testing areas.
• Explain procedure details to patients, appropriately responding to questions and concerns.
• Absorb patients through procedures, ensuring secure and proper positioning for testing.
• Confirm testing result availability through picture archiving and communication system, documenting procedure details within electronic medical record.
• Identify equipment malfunction and quality issues, communicating problems to manager and technical support personnel.

Requirements

• COA or COT certification

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma/GED
• Bachelor of Arts or Science in Photographic Sciences, Imaging, or Life Sciences
