About the Role

This is an entry-level Ophthalmic Technician position. Under the direct supervision of the department supervisor, the Ophthalmic Assistant plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive ophthalmic care. The role involves assisting physicians in gathering patient data and maintaining a conducive clinical environment. Free training will be provided for motivated individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual acuity testing, visual field testing, lensometry, auto refractometry, refractometry, pupil assessment, extraocular motility, gross external examination, applanation tonometry, and tonopen.
  • Instill eye drops and perform diagnostic testing.
  • Participate in patient care within a clinical setting.
  • Maintain patient medical records to ensure efficient and organized workflow.
  • Participate in employer-sponsored training and continuing education with the goal of becoming certified by JCAHPO as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant within 24 months from the date of hire.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • No prior experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant required; free training provided.
  • 1-2 years working in a fast-paced environment.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a customer service industry.

Qualifications

  • General understanding of anatomy and physiology.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex concepts, with strong math and science skills.
  • Proficient computer and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure while maintaining a high level of service and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday. No nights or weekends.
