Gailey Eye Clinic is seeking a hardworking, customer service-focused individual for an Ophthalmic Assistant position at our Ottawa clinic. This role is ideal for those interested in patient care and ophthalmology. No previous experience is required—we will train the right person.
Responsibilities
- Escort patients to examination rooms and perform pre-exam workups prior to the doctor’s evaluation.
- Work one-on-one with patients in a compassionate and attentive manner.
- Utilize computer software for patient records and communication.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, typing, and spelling skills.
- Work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Manage multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Paid travel to other Gailey offices in Central IL as needed.

Pay
The starting hourly wage for this position ranges from $17.00 to $20.90, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market considerations. After training is complete, the hourly wage increases by $0.50. Additionally, the position is eligible for a $1.00/hour wage increase upon obtaining certification (COA), which can typically be achieved after approximately one year of employment.
