Operator Trainee
About the role
Aqua, an Essential Utilities company, is seeking an Operator to join the White Haven Division in Pennsylvania. This role involves operating water and wastewater systems, performing leak detection, and maintaining equipment.
Essential Duties
- Leverage equipment at well and pumping facilities for operation and maintenance.
- Maintain distribution systems including mains, valves, hydrants, and services.
- Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations.
- Manage sewer collection systems including collection mains and pump stations.
- Troubleshoot and repair service piping and appurtenances.
- Comply with safety protocols and conduct public relations in customer contacts.
- Perform customer service functions such as meter reading, responding to complaints, and servicing meters and service lines.
- Recognize and report unusual conditions in the system.
- Direct contractors on water and wastewater installations.
- Operate and maintain vehicles and equipment used in operations.
- Collect, analyze, and record water and wastewater samples for regulatory compliance and process control.
- Respond to PA One Calls.
- Conduct leak detection and line locating services in both preventative and emergency situations.
- Work a rotating on-call schedule, including after-hours and weekends.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- Live within 35 miles of the assigned area.
- Must secure an applicable water and wastewater license per the White Haven CBA.
- Capable of lifting up to 85 lbs.
- Obtain a DOT Medical Card.
Knowledge/Skills/Requirements
- Applicable water and wastewater license per the White Haven CBA.
- Additional subclasses or higher-class licenses may be required based on facility needs.
