About the role
Vitro of Elkin is seeking a qualified Line Operator to join our team. The position requires a high degree of mechanical aptitude, PC skills, and the ability to operate a fork truck.
Responsibilities
- Efficiently utilize all equipment and personnel used in producing cut, edged, and drilled glass.
- Make mechanical changes and adjustments to line equipment and operate automation equipment including programmable controllers and robots.
- Plan and address daily production needs.
- Maintain line cleanliness, including proper storage of tools, emptying trash, and getting full trash hoppers dumped.
- Accurate and timely report/enter/log daily production information into appropriate forms and databases.
- Perform routine TPM activities, report maintenance needs, and assist general maintenance mechanics.
- Assign and direct personnel on pattern changes and short periods of downtime.
- Provide relief for line personnel in emergency situations.
- Train new operators as necessary.
- Report all unsafe equipment and/or conditions.
- Maintain operations at the highest standards set forth by Vitro’s customers, production, and quality departments.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must attain passing score on Select Assessment for Manufacturing test per Production Operator profile.
- Must be able to safely operate a fork truck and maintain the required license.
- Must have adequate PC skills to work with computerized systems.
- Must be motivated, self-driven, and organized.
- Must be willing to assist in other roles as called upon or needed.
- A basic understanding of automation, automated equipment, and robotics plus knowledge of their use as it applies to line operation is preferred.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma / GED, required.
Physical Requirements, Safety, and Work Environment
- Performs duties within normal manufacturing environmental conditions.
- Works in warm and cold conditions.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to push/pull, grip to use hand tools, reach, see, hear, and speak.
- Must follow posted security procedures at all times while in the building.
- Must follow all PPE requirements.

- Direct Deposit / Paid Weekly on Friday's - Starting wage $23.24 per hour ($1.00 Shift differential pay for any hours worked from 7pm - 7am).
