Operator III
Position Summary
Responsible for assisting in the operation of one or more processes pertaining to the treatment of wastewater and biosolids. This position requires working on a rotating shift.
Minimum Requirements
- Must have knowledge of the principles and methods used in the treatment and disposal of wastewater and biosolids, as well as understand and comprehend the related laws, rules and regulations.
- Must understand both the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions that need to be exercised in the conveyance of wastewater, as well as demonstrate the ability to learn and retain technical information.
- Mechanical and problem-solving aptitude, as well as computer literacy, is required.
- Must be able to read, write, communicate and understand English sufficiently to perform the functions of the position and execute oral and written directions.
Experience, Licenses and Certifications
- Minimum five (5) years' experience in wastewater treatment facility required.
- New Jersey Treatment Plant S1 license required.
- New Jersey C1 Collections Systems license preferred.
- Valid New Jersey Driver's License preferred.
Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required.
- Satisfactory completion of both the Basic and Advanced Wastewater Treatment courses required.
- Completion of the Advanced Wastewater Collections course preferred.
Physical Demands
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation to ensure the health and safety of oneself and others are maintained.
- Perform physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, legs, and the whole body such as climbing (including ladders), lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping and handling heavy objects.
- Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into confined spaces while wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as, but not limited to, canister and dust masks, as well as SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus), in compliance with PVSC's Facial Hair Grooming Policy.
Working Conditions
Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and will be required to work indoors and outdoors.
Pay
The expected base pay range is $79,643 to $99,704. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, education, training, and formal credentials.
