About the role

Our Conversion Operator supports Mativ’s machine operation. This individual will efficiently and safely perform the duties of conversion line machine operation, including identifying the correct raw materials required, start-up, set-up, and running for production.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand the production schedule and BOM.
  • Perform all functions of the set-up, including:
    • Selecting proper raw materials (box, labels, and netting).
    • Understand proper product characteristics required (length, width, etc.).
    • Cycle the machine with limited assistance from maintenance.
    • Test initial product, length, bag alignment where applicable, etc.
    • Make necessary line adjustments.
    • Verify product is in spec per work orders.
  • Package product in accordance with packaging instructions.
  • Label products with lot number, serial, product type or description.
  • Adhere to Food Safety Regulations as applicable.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Read & understand English (US Customary) measuring system.
  • Able to read ruler measurement to the nearest ¼.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Past packaging experience (preferred).

Position Demands

  • Conditions are that of a manufacturing environment:
    • Air temperatures can range from cold to hot.
    • Atmosphere may contain dust, fumes, and odors.
    • May include mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, and radiation hazards.
  • Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including:
    • Safety shoes (steel toe or composite toe).
    • Safety glasses.
    • Bump caps.
    • Protective gloves, when performing certain tasks.
    • Hearing protection, when required.
    • Other personal protective equipment as required for certain tasks.
    • Respirator (for required positions).
  • Physical demands:
    • Lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
    • Push or pull heavy objects up to 250 pounds.
    • Work 12-hour shifts.
    • Perform repetitive tasks.
    • Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk.
    • Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and balance, sometimes in awkward or tight spaces.
    • Good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
    • Meet Mativ certification requirements to operate PIV’s (if applicable).

Schedule

Shift schedule is 12AM–8AM. Must be able to work overtime when required.

Pay

This position has an hourly base wage of $17.43 an hour. Hours worked between 4PM–8AM are eligible for a $1 per hour shift differential.
