About the Role

Industrial Heavy Equipment Operators will operate one or more cranes to move heavy equipment from one location to another, often involving changes in altitude. This position requires the ability to operate both friction and RT Cranes.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various construction cranes to move equipment and materials.
  • Plan operational lifts and inspect equipment.
  • Ensure all safety aspects of operating the equipment are followed.
  • Follow signal directions from a signaler during equipment operations.
  • Assess the area of operations for safety issues and plan equipment operations accordingly.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as equipment inspection paperwork.
  • Assist in other duties when not operating a crane.
  • Adhere to all instructed safety regulations.
  • Report to work on time and work the designated schedule, including overtime as needed.

Requirements

  • Current National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) credentials for the appropriate type of crane.
  • Current DOT physical.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Crane Operator.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle records check (if required).
  • Reliable transportation.

Qualifications

  • Experience and knowledge of operating cranes, including but not limited to: Manitowoc 2250, 16000, 4100, Link Belt 218, Kabelco 2500, and rough terrain (RT) cranes ranging from 25T to 140T.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to inspect equipment.
  • Ability to perform load planning and lift planning.
  • Knowledge of all proper hand signals.
  • Willingness to follow instructions correctly and assist in other duties as needed.

Certifications and/or Licenses Required

  • NCCCO - Telescopic Boom Cranes—Fixed Cab (TSS)
  • NCCCO - Telescopic Boom Cranes—Swing Cab (TLL)

Physical Requirements

  • Adhere to large amounts of sitting.
  • Communicate through talking and hearing.
  • Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
  • Lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Pass a visual acuity assessment.
  • Perform precise coordinated movements using fingers, hands, arms, legs, and feet.
  • Good dexterity in fingers, arms, legs, hands, and feet.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and leather work boots.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

  • Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee.
  • Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
  • Experience with all listed cranes.
  • Formal/technical education.
